[Kosaka Town, Akita prefecture]

The former Kudo Family Residence "NAKAKOJI no Yakata" in Kosaka Town was the residence of the Kudo family, who lived in this area for about 400 years, and the present building was constructed in 1885. The main building, with its thick Akita cedar pillars and beams, is a valuable cultural property that is rarely seen today.

The "Kourakukan" (opened in 1910), a National Important Cultural Property, is an extremely valuable wooden theater that continues to be used for performances today. The tour will also include a visit to this theater.

"Towada Hotel" (built in 1939) is a magnificent combination of Japanese and Western styles, and was constructed by a total of 80 MIYA-DAIKU (temple carpenters) from the surrounding area at the time.

A museum that exhibits reproductions of dwellings and excavated items from the early to middle Jomon Period (approximately 3,900 to 2,200 B.C.).

Goshogawara, known for "Tachi Neputa", and Osamu Dazai Memorial Museum "Shayokan" in Kanagi town.

Iwakiyama Shrine has a history of about 1200 years. If the weather is fine, visitors can enjoy the unique scenery of the shrine pavilions set against Mount Iwaki. 

Aoike (Blue Pond) is a part of the World Heritage Site "Shirakami Sanchi". It is said that Hayao Miyazaki was inspired by this pond during the making of his "Princess Mononoke".
